Our love affair with coffee traces back to the mornings spent savoring espressos with my father, a ritual he brought with him from Southern Italy. After meals, the rich aroma of coffee lingered, becoming a tradition that created a deep bond within our family. This love for coffee seamlessly transitioned into my teenage years, where coffee became more than a beverage; it became a catalyst for connections and communities.
In those formative years, I’d gather with friends and fellow car enthusiasts, sharing stories over cups of coffee in parking lots and at each other’s driveways. Whether it was the hum of engines or the animated conversations about our recent modifications or success at track days, coffee was the common thread that brought us together, forming a tight-knit community.
Inspired by these experiences, the seed for Blackwell Coffee Co. was planted. Almost two years ago, fueled by the desire for a consistently fresh roasted bean and exceptional cup, we embarked on a journey of coffee curation and roasting. Our small team of passionate coffee enthusiasts dove deep into the intricacies of the coffee bean, from its origins on the farm to the rich aroma in your cup.
Embarking on a deliberate journey, we engaged closely with industry experts, cooperatives, and green bean wholesalers. Through these connections, we delved into the intricacies of unique growing conditions, diverse bean varieties, and the nuanced methods of processing and roasting. Our commitment to excellence starts with the careful selection of the finest beans. We meticulously curate unique and flavorful coffees, ensuring each blend is a testament to the rich tapestry of coffee origins. Once sourced, our beans undergo a precise roasting process in our Deidrich CR-35 or CR-140, a delicate dance of temperature and timing. The result is a cup of coffee that embodies the distinctive characteristics and flavors of each bean.
