From Ethiopia to Humanity: The Story of Our ‘Watermelon’ Roast
At Blackwell Coffee Co. we’re passionate about more than just flavor profiles and brewing techniques. Our latest creation, the “Watermelon” single origin roast, pays homage to coffee’s roots while making a global impact.
Our “Watermelon” roast features Ethiopian beans—a light roast that dances on the palate with fruity notes derived from a small group of farmers in the Ethiopian Bambe region. But it’s more than a delightful morning ritual; it’s a beacon of hope and a way for us to give back and support those displaced and impacted by war. 30% of the proceeds from every bag sold go directly towards humanitarian efforts in response to the ongoing Middle East conflicts.
Why “Watermelon”? Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and the name “Watermelon” reflects the symbol of hope and solidarity with the people of Palestine (Falasteen), and the flavour profile is juicy sweet with notes of watermelon, strawberries and guava. By choosing this roast, our customers not only enjoy a unique flavor but also contribute to causes that matter
Since introducing “Watermelon,” we’ve raised nearly $600 (USD). These funds support organizations working tirelessly to alleviate suffering, provide aid, and promote peace in conflict-affected regions. Every cup poured is a small act of solidarity.
As you sip your morning brew, remember that it’s more than just coffee—it’s a connection. Together, we can turn every coffee break into a force for good.
